Tucson Area Information - The Arts
Plants for the Southwest is located at 50 East Blacklidge in Tucson, Arizona (Blacklidge and Stone). The proprietor, Mr. Gene Joseph, is an earnest fellow who motions with his hands while he expounds on the of different native habitats of his plants. If you have a particular pot and you want advice on what would best live in the container he'll be happy to help you out. He specializes in creating a harmonious, and natural environment for his plants, which he commonly grows from seeds. If you're looking for a perfect gift to give someone who has everything - look no further. One of a kind, living, gifts abound.

While visiting the nursery for the first time I was lucky to meet Ms. Jan Bell. She specializes in creating ceramic vessels that are fired to cone 5 and are imprinted from her surroundings. She uses rock, tree bark, stamps etc to give her pottery a beautiful appearance where the potter's hand lives. You can email her at jrbell@u.arizona.edu and see her work on site. I'm sure you'll agree that her containers, as well as the other artist's work shown here, compliment the plants that Gene grows.

Plants for the Southwest has a website here. There are lots of architectural details to bring life to your garden and a host of water-spout carvings. I took some advice and purchased some plants. I'll be back! ~R.N.
